cavara and work for oakland school district and early education and people come from san joaquin valley and my family is located in the area. the best thing about working here is meeting all the families, and connecting with the kids, and when it finally clicks to them "oh that's what that means". even if it's small steps with some kids it's a great feeling that you have made an accomplishment in their lives that they will remember, so here it started down at ice age and moved to second avenue because it got too big want there was a preschool there and out grew that area and we had three choice in oakland to have the child care center at and the parents chose this one and up in the hills and don't feel like you're in oakland and conducive to our setting and lifestyle as indian people, and a lot of our kids that graduated here are doing community work. they're out there working with their people so we have made a strong impact with kids and you don't think about it. you just do what you do and what comes natural in working with kids and it's the only -- within the state of califor

over in oakland. the storm is causing problems all over the bay area. >> reporter: brian, you know, it is the sunday before the christmas holiday. that mean ace lot of people are out this doing last-minute shopping and going to holiday parties. but, the weather has not made it easy for drivers out this on the road. they are looking at the conditions from earlier. the standing water is hurting traffic and slow-moving drivers. and wind warnings on the bridges. this powerful storm even brought down trees on panoramic highway. and people had to detour adding hours to their trip. listen to this guy. >> they are saying that there is no power. the fire department told me the road is closed because they need to clear the tree. that was 2-1/2 hours. that is how long to cheer the trees. four hours -- clear the trees four hours ago and nobody is cutting the tree and they now say you can not pass in 12 hours. >> now, these trees weigh at least a ton and will take hours to cheer. back live, we are watching traffic as drivers head on to the golden gate bridge. we are getting a break in the rain

right. the good news first. if you are traveling out of sfo, oakland or san jose, we checked with all three, there are no delays you have to worry about and no cancellations. that's the good news. what may give you a headache today, are the lines. it's very busy here at terminal 2 at san francisco international airport. you can see all of the cars pulling up. we've seen a steady stream of passengers unloading checking into the terminal. it's especially inside the terminal. this is video of the security line in terminal 2 from about 45 minutes ago. there were hundreds of people waiting to pass through and the line snaked all the way out into the middle of the terminal. today is one of the busiest travel days of the holiday season for this airport with 120,000 people expected to pass through sfo today alone and some people we talked to were surprised to see it so crowded here on christmas eve. others said it made more sense for them to fly out today. >> i heard it was very busy, yeah. >> i picked the 24th because it was like $250 less than what was on saturday and what was on -- or sund

about other things going on. perhaps even worse than san francisco or oakland or san jose, but i can't rest on the lores that we might be better in employment. we might be better not having that many homicides but we lost a lot of the african-american community in the last 10-20 years. we lost the redevelopment agency that gave a lot of promises. i am trying to keep those promises, but i've got to find more and better ways to interrupt the violence, and i want today to register a personal appeal to our religious leaders to help me do that, find ways. i suspect it's not about money. it's not about numbers of jobs. it's about who we talk about and who we relate to, and how can we penetrate barriers or vacuums where there is no conversations going on? how do we talk to kids that don't have a mother or father? who are they talking with? how do we talk with their aunts or grandparents or brothers or sisters and tell them that we care and get them into a conversation with us. how about putting down the guns? what is it that they need from us to assure them that we have a safe passage for the
